Avalon Laboratories Inc. offers both RT-PCR and rapid antigen testing for COVID-19 at our facility at 5 Sea Rose Avenue in St. John’s, NL. We are also happy to help you find collectors at other locations in the province.

The results of our RT-PCR tests are accepted by both the NL Public Health Lab and Transport Canada because Avalon is an ISO 15189 nationally accredited laboratory.

Clients who require COVID testing for international travel should check with their airline or destination to see which type(s) of COVID test they accept.

Results for RT-PCR tests are typically available in 24 hours from the time your swab arrives at our lab, while results for rapid antigen tests are available the same day. Prior to booking an appointment, please check with your airline or destination to ensure the timing of your appointment meets your travel requirements.

Avalon Laboratories uses a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) with a highly encrypted support platform to manage confidential information. LIMS data storage, processing, and result distribution are performed using a trusted cloud provider and adhere to all standards outlined in the Newfoundland and Labrador Personal Health Information Act.
